Ministry of Justice’s Gender & Social Inclusion Unit (GSIU) Concludes Two-Day Gender Sensitivity Training to Foster an Inclusive Workplace Culture

The Ministry of Justice (MOJ), through its Gender & Social Inclusion Unit ( GSIU) has successfully conducted an intensive two-day training workshop on Gender Sensitivity for its workforce. 

The initiative, which commenced from September 17-18, 2025 was held at the Ministry’s headquarters on UN Drive, Sekou Toure Avenue, Mamba Point,  marks a significant step in reinforcing the Ministry’s commitment to promoting gender equity, respect, and inclusivity across all levels of the Ministry.

The two day training brought together  cross-section of employees and Middle level Managers from various departments and sections, equipping them with the knowledge, tools, and frameworks needed to identify gender biases in the workplace and in service delivery.

In her opening remarks Thursday, September 18, 2025, Deputy Justice Minister for Administration and Public Safety Cllr. Cora Hare Konuwa, emphasized the importance of gender mainstreaming and sensitivity in achieving the Ministry’s broader goals of justice and fairness.

Over the last two days, participants engaged in interactive sessions facilitated by seasoned gender and social inclusion experts from the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning and that of the Ministry of Justice.

Topics covered included: Gender-Based Discrimination in the Workplace, Importance of the 16 Days of Activism,

Legal Frameworks on Gender Equality,

Gender-Responsive Policies and Services among others.

Meanwhile the Director of the Gender and Social Inclusion Unit, Madam Maude M. Somah disclosed that the Unit will continue to roll out similar capacity-building initiatives and follow-up assessments to ensure that the knowledge gained during the training is sustained and translated into everyday practice at the workplace.

She however lauded the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Liberia Cllr. N. Oswald Tweh for his supports over the years.
