LRA Team Engages Ministry of Justice on Real Property Tax Compliance

As part of a recent presidential directive aimed at strengthening domestic revenue generation, a delegation from the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) on Thursday, September 18, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Justice to raise awareness on the importance of Real Property Tax compliance among government officials and institutions.

The visit is one in a series of engagements being held with various government ministries and agencies to emphasize the legal and civic responsibility of tax payment, particularly on real property, by ministers, deputy ministers, assistant ministers, directors, and other public officials.

Justice Minister Cllr. Oswald Tweh warmly welcomed the LRA delegation and commended their proactive approach to fostering tax awareness and compliance. He assured the team of the Ministry of Justice’s full commitment to the initiative and emphasized that the Ministry would lead by example in ensuring adherence to Real Property Tax obligations.

The LRA team, led by Mr. Isaac B. Stevens, Assistant Commissioner for the Taxpayer Services Division, provided insights into the benefits of timely tax payment and highlighted how Real Property Tax significantly contributes to national development, including infrastructure, education, and healthcare.

This engagement reflects the government’s broader strategy to promote accountability, transparency, and a stronger tax culture within public service. The LRA delegation was accompanied by Assistant Justice Minister for Taxation, Cllr. Aaron B. Kpakillen.
