The Procurement Unit of the Ministry of Justice was established under the Public Procurement & Concessions Act of 2005, which was amended and approved on September 16, 2010.

Mandate

The Procurement Unit under the supervision of the Procurement Committee is responsible to procure goods, works and services on behalf of the Ministry of Justice in line with the Public Procurement and Concessions Act and accompanying regulations.

Overview/Objectives

The Unit is headed by a Director of Procurement. Other members of the Unit includes an Assistant Director, Procurement Officer, Secretary, Accountant and Procurement Expediter. Staff of the unit are trained, knowledgeable and experienced in executing the Ministry's Procurement related functions as enshrined in Section 29 of the PPC Act. These functions also define the objectives of the Ministry of Justice Procurement Unit which include but not limited to:

• Preparing the Ministry's Procurement Plan
• Preparing invitations to bid, request for quotations, requests for proposals and bidding documents including schedules ad specifications;
• Publishing and distribution invitation to bid, requests for quotation, request for proposals and bidding documents
• Ensuring that the procurement procedures followed conform to provisions of the PPCA, etc.

The vision of the Procurement Unit is to provide quality goods, works, and services in a timely manner to Ministry staff (end-users) to enable them to render prompt services to the Government and people of Liberia as well as foreign nationals, residing within our borders.
