Minister of Justice Commissions Police Policy Management Board

As part of the Ministry of Justice Statutory responsibilities, the Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Cllr. N. Oswald Tweh commissioned the Police Policy Management Board on Thursday, August 29,2024.

In his admonishments to the chairman and members of the board, the Attorney General stressed that it was imperative that the board ensure due diligence in the application of its assigned duties through the exhibition of responsive leadership to members of the Liberia National Police. He cautioned the board to ensure that members of Liberia’s Police Force conduct themselves with the utmost professionalism, and that they follow the laws to the letter during investigations, arrest and enforcement.

The Attorney General also expressed confidence in the professional expertise of each member of the board and felt assured that they would not betray the confidence reposed in the concerned institutions and their representatives by the Minister of Justice.

The Institutions Represented On The Board Includes:

1. The Liberia National Police- Statutory Member

2. Ministry of Justice- Statutory Member

3. Liberia Institute of Public Administration -Member

4. Ministry of Finance and Development Planning –Member

5. The Civil Service Agency-Member

The Representatives Of These Ministries And Agencies Are As Follows :

1. Hon. William K. Mulbah- Deputy Inspector General For Administration-LNP- Chairman

2. Hon. Sadatu L. Reeves –Deputy Director General for Training and Manpower Development –LNP- Vice-Chair

3. Hon. Prince Davies -Commissioner for Operations –LNP--Member

4. Cllr. Augustine C. Fiyah- Solicitor General- Ministry of Justice -Member

5. Hon. Nee-Alah T. Varplah- Director General- Liberia Institute of Public Administration -Member

6. Hon. Bill McGill Jones- Deputy Minister for Administration – Ministry of Finance and Development Planning -Member

7. Hon. Darlington A.P. Smith-Deputy Director General – Human Resource and Manpower Development- Civil Service Agency -Member

In keeping with the Police Act and Administrative Regulations, the Police Policy Management Board is responsible to:

1. Propose regulations under the Police Act

2. Propose administrative instructions- for effective and efficient training, management, operation and welfare of the Liberian Police Force

3. Oversee the appointment and promotion of all commissioned officers

4. Address grievances arising from members of the Police Force and Civilian Personnel -Internal Grievances

5. Monitor and Review Police Conduct

6. Ensure that members of the police force understand their roles as Law enforcers.

In conclusion, the Minister indicated that if the board perform its duties efficiently, then, the Liberia Police Force can be seen as a force for good and not one that abuses its authority.

The Chairman of the newly commissioned Police Policy Management Board, Honorable William K. Mulbah- Deputy Inspector General for Administration, Liberia National Police, thanked the Minster of Justice on behalf of the board members and assured the Minster that the board will uphold the confidences reposed in it.
