Minister of Justice/Attorney General and Acting Chair of the Cabinet, Holds First Meeting With Vetting Committee For the Recruitment of the Executive Director for the War and Economic Crimes Court Office
Earlier today, September 6, 2024, the Minister of Justice/ Attorney General and Acting Chair of the Cabinet, Cllr. N. Oswald Tweh, along with members of the Vetting Committee for the Recruitment of the Executive Director for the War and Economic Crimes Court Office met in the Conference Room of the Ministry of Justice.
This was the first meeting of the committee and as Chair on that Committee, the Attorney General presented a draft Terms of Reference to the members for review, edits and inputs.
The Terms of Reference is holistic comprising of Academic, Professional, Delegating and Supervisory competencies.
After a thorough review and inputs from across the table, the terms of reference was adopted and approved for publication.
This committee was constituted by the President of the Republic of Liberia, H.E Joseph N. Boakai on August 15,2024 with the mandate to vet and recruit an Executive Director for the War and Economic Crimes Court Office.
Other committee members present at the meeting were:
1. Mr. George Kingsley - National Civil Society Council
2. Mr. Adama K. Demster -Human Rights CSO
3. Cllr. T.Demster Brown-Independent Human Rights Commission
4. Cllr. Sylvester D. Rennie-President, Liberia National Bar Association
The Director General of the Cabinet, Hon. Nathaniel Kwabo, Cllr. Cora Hare-Konuwa , Deputy Minister for Codification, Ministry of Justice and the Special Assistant to the Minister of Justice, Atty. Siaffa Bahn Kemoka were also present at the meeting.
The meeting ended with a timetable for the publication of the Terms of Reference to solicit application from qualified candidates.
The Minister thanked the committee members for coming and encouraged them to take the task assigned with the greatest responsibility.
